• allergy to either penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics
• gastrointestinal problems
• kidney disease
• stomach or intestine problems (especially colitis)
• an unusual or allergic reaction to cefaclor, other cephalosporin antibiotics, penicillin, penicillamine, other foods, dyes or preservatives
• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• breast-feeding

How should I use this medicine?

Your doctor will only prescribe Ceclor to treat a bacterial infection; it will not cure a viral infection, such as the common cold. It's important to take the full dosage schedule of Ceclor, even if you're feeling better in a few days. Not completing the full dosage schedule may decrease the drug's effectiveness and increase the chances that the bacteria may become resistant to Ceclor and similar antibiotics.

Ceclor works fastest when taken on an empty stomach. However, your doctor may ask you to take Ceclor with food to avoid stomach upset.

Ceclor should be taken with meals or at least within 1 hour of eating because it's better absorbed with food. Do not cut, crush, or chew the tablets.

What if I miss a dose?

Take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Never take 2 doses at the same time.

What may interact with this medicine?

• Antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, including Gelusil, Maalox, and Mylanta
• other antibiotics, certain diuretics
• Probenecid

Oral contraceptives may not work properly while you are taking Ceclor. For greater certainty, use other measures while taking Ceclor.

Where should I keep this medicine?

Keep Ceclor capsules in the container they came in, tightly closed. Store at room temperature. Refrigerate Ceclor suspension. Discard any unused portion after 14 days.
